I was listening to our local radio station earlier and there was an advert for an open day at a business. They had moved premises.
It was for Co-op funerals and the funeral parlour was having an open day. I don't think that death and dying are taboo subjects - but it just seemed strange to go to an open day.
She didn't turn up on time? Presumably they are used to referring to "the late Mrs Jones" at a funeral parlour, Venator...
Sounds like a good idea to me, wolf. Nobody goes into a funeral parlour if they don't have to, so it's not a bad idea to overcome their doubts in advance.
I could imagine that for some folk it would be a useful thing to do without having to go "on purpose" as it were....its an open day so you can just go along as you were "just passing"
Ugh no thanks, its bad enough having to go there when a relative dies, I wouldn't want to go for a nosey round, I expect they have to keep some doors locked? :( Its think its only "touting for business" really! (although those kind of businesses are never going to be short of customers!) :)
