just seen a girl on tv around 15 with two rings in her nose and two studs either side of here mouth, that's her privilege i know but if she were turned down for jobs because of this and was asked by dhss to remove them to make her more employable could she then say that was against her human rights and so continue to live on benefit ?

I don't judge the people with excessive piercings because I can't talk to them for long. Face piercings literally make my knees go week and I feel queazy. The thought of people having holes punched in them is unbearable to me...............................
Agree with Lottie. One of my son' s friends used to have a nose ring and a piercing in his brow (a very intelligent boy, by the way) and I could only talk to him if I didn't look at him. He had them removed a few years ago so no problem there now. He has a good job in London and I think post degree he went for interviews so that might have been the decider to remove them.
personally ive dont self harm, im aware that piercings could be seen as a form of self harming and i wouldn't do it now, ive no intention of having more done, none of the people i know who are pierced self harm either. Some have got to their 40's without so much as an ear pierced. From conversations it seems most of us who have done it just like the way it looks. Its just in my opinon a decoration that can be taken out whenever you like. Most wont leave much visible scarring if any... (obviously the tunnel ones people have would but hey thats their choice)
My friend and I saw an elderly man (hippy type) just before Christmas and he must have had 200 face piercings!!! I know it was rude of us but we were in a shop and walked down the next aisle and up the same one as him just to get a further look, we just could not believe our eyes!!! It made us feel quite sick, all the ones in his nose and lips can't be hygienic and surely could get infected, as sorry to say, he didn't look too savoury really, a bit like an old tramp - he was probably a really nice old chap, perhaps it just made us form a wrong opinion..
My older alba (19) had his ear pieced, fine. Then he went ofr a few more different ear-piercings. He has two studs pierced through his lip. He was 17 and a student (still is a student) Mr Alba and I hate them with a passion. He got a tattoo when he was 18 and kept taling about getting a 'sleeve'. He's not mentioned that for over a year now.
'Hate them with a passion' should read as hate the piercings and not the students :)

I dont know how people manage to leave facial piercings in tbh. Ive had my nose done a few times and you don't realise how often you touch your face until you catch them all the time. I had ones on my body removed for the same reason, i loved them but getting a shower/bath was a nightmare if i forgot they were there and just scrubbed with a scrunchie ...ouch!!!!
