My OH has got a new phone and is now with a new network provider. His old phone still has til 20th Feb left on contract. So does he need to do anything apart from cancel the direct debit after the last payment is taken?

He needs to contact his current provider ASAP and inform them that he does not wish to renew his contract in February.
If it were me, I would just leave it and cancel the direct debit... BUT... they will probably automatically renew it, and then you will end up owing them 12 months worth of payments... like I did :-(

I eventually got out of it, by telling them I'd not agreed on the renewal, but it's much easier to just contact them and save yourself some hassle! :-)

Ok thanks guys!
tigwig if you get any paper work from them keep it safe for a few years
may i add that i have had contracts with o2, orange and vodaphone and i had to put it in writing that i wanted to end my contract and give them 30 days notice

also i had a lot of trouble with orange as they kept taking payments from me so keep a watch on your account
