Anyone else had this?

It only happens in the morning. If I make a fist and open my hand, all the fingers open except the one next to the pinky. It satys shut and then eventually springs open when the other fingers are almost fully extended. After stretching and moving for a little while, it works ok again.

not dangerous but definitely treatable

Good shout woofgang!!

I was going to say tendonitis.Hubby had it when he was a wee boy - he did have to have a minor op to release/relieve it.For obvious reasons you cant let it go for long - daily life would become very difficult!

Good Luck

Thanks for the replies. The photo in your link looks just like my hand in the morning woofgang (although my nails aren't quite that long.)

I think I'll take a couple of days off work to rest it (any excuse :o)

It would help if you said how old you are. If you are a wrinkly like me (my fingers lock up sometimes) it could be Dupuytren's contracture . Look it up on Google. The palm of the hand will look a bit lumpy on the tendons.

It can be sorted.

I had trigger finger except mine was in the thumb so I suppose it was trigger thumb ... I had a steriod injection which cured it, but only for a few months and it is coming back again, I think I'll have to have an op .. Wish me luck :)

I worked out what happened. I've got a callous on the palm of my hand just below that finger. It's like having a little pebble there which has been pushed into the tendon through constant use at work. So the tendon has become inflamed and doesn't run smoothly, catches and voila: trigger finger.

Thanks for helping me to work out what was wrong.
