Hi, we are a party of 2 adults, 4 teenagers (14-18) & 2 dogs. Which are the nicest places to stay on the Northumbrian coast near Bamburgh (self catering but NOT caravans). We enjoy walking & peace & quiet (but not too quiet for the teenagers!) Am looking at Seahouses or Beadnell, any advice appreciated, Thanks

Either Seahouses or Beadnell would be fine for the coast, obviously, but offer very little for teenagers once they've got bored of the Seahouses amusement arcade which, in my teenage experience, took about five minutes.

Go for Berwick or Alnwick instead.
Yes,Mark is right, you can "do" Seahouses in about 5 minutes.
Alnwick gets my vote, everytime. Check out the website of Northumbria Coast & Country Cottages for lots of nice places to stay.

Not only is Alnwick without a shadow of doubt the best place in the North of England, you can be at the beach (Alnmouth) in about 10 minutes and be heading up the Ingram valley in about 30 minutes. Fancy a walk? Go and see Linhope Spout. Fancy seriously picturesque? Go to Rothbury. Fancy a great night out? Head down to Ye Olde Crosse, which the locals call "The Bottles".

It's for a very good reason that Alnwick was voted the best place to live in England a few years ago...
Oh oh oh how I envy your journey - Alnwick without a doubt - the castle - the gardens - the town... Alnmouth ( I think that's how it's spelt) beach for your doggies. So many wonderful places to see, have a great visit. Sorry I can't help with self catering, we stayed at a great B+B in Alnwick which has since closed down :-(
