sentance for domestic assault

Does any one know what sort of sentance to expect for a domesic assault the offender has been out of trouble for 9 years but before that as a teen was in trouble for other violence . He has already been put on remand for 10 days i was tricked into making a statement and feel extremely guilty he is in prison

You've not told us the nature of the injuries sustained and you've not indicated the nature of the charge. (Common assault? ABH? GBH? GBH with intent? Attempted murder?). Such things can make a lot of difference!

m not sure about the charge think its common assault swelling and bruisin to face and neck half a head of hair pulled out . was punched strangled and dragged about.

The maximum sentence for common assault is 6 months imprisonment, of which only half (less any time on remand) would actually be spent 'inside'.

So, at a rather wild guess, a sentence of 3 months imprisonment might be passed, so that's only 6½ weeks 'inside'. Since there would be at least 1½ weeks to come off that (because of the time already spent on remand) it would seem unlikely that the offender would be in prison (if at all, of course) for more than 5 weeks from the date of sentencing.
