Does anyone know the law on undertaking on a one way street?

I was going round a one way system in the right hand lane and the road had a sharp right bend. as I went round the right hand bend, a truck overtook me on the left of me and the back of his truck hit the front of my car. He tried to overtake me as we went round the sharp bend.

Don't think it's actually illegal (even on motorways), just considered bad practice. Would've thought trying to overtake at all round a sharp bend by a vehicle needing extra room is thoughtless at best. Did he try make you pull over to the left (maybe flashed his lights) earlier, & were you going to be turning right at some point (hence being in that lane anyway) ? Still no excuse for his impatience, hope you got some details.

it's ilegal if it is a specific manouvre, eg change to the left hand lane overtake and then go right again. It's ok if the overtaking vehicle is in the left lane already and that lane is flowing faster.

As Heathfield says you can overtake either side in a one way street. However if it was an illegal manoeuvre, you will have to prove it, is there CCTV.

If however he never left his lane, the fault is yours.

Undertaking in normal circumstances is totaly illegal, the only time it isnt, is described in the highway code, unders slow moving traffic.

It may be irrelevant if it was a legal or illegal manoevre, but if the rear of his vehicle moved into your lane as he was turning, then he is at fault.
