i know of many people who went to school in the fifties and sixties who still bear terrible emotional scars over injustices, heavy-handed punishments and cruel cruel teachers.
I'd rather go to the school I work in now than the terrifying grammar school I attended in the 70's. I really felt like 'another brick in the wall' was written about me!
I wonder how many of EDDIE51's 54 classmates were truly happy at school?
I agree with carrot99 - I work in a primary school and on most inset days I have to go in all day. The last - beg of Jan - we had a first aid course which lasted all day and it was very interesting and informative. My husband works in a secondary school and they have their "inset days" after school until about 9pm and they are call 'twilight training'
Teacher training days are not extra holidays, they use days that used to be holidays so that pupils have the same amount of holidays and teachers have three days less. All those I went to were longer than a school day and extremely boring!!!!
