Amazon Recommends - how do they work that out?

You know when you log in to Amazon and it offers recommendations?
Then you can click and ask why it thinks this is something you might want to buy.

Well they've just recommended a tube of superglue, and when I asked why, they said it's because I recently bought a pair of TP-Link powerline ethernet adaptors.

I'm not sure if Amazon do work out their recommendations, I find it strange when having bought something from them they start recommending exactly the same items. Why would I need two irons for example ?

Recently bought a cartridge for my Epson printer. Signing in just now, they're recommending I buy the exact same printer.

The 'people who bought a ***** also bought a *****' and 'other items you may be interested in' is very common on Ebay-au. And yes, it often includes the item you've already bought.

Anything to extract your last penny.
