I have been using my Lexmark photo printer for the last 5 years using an XD card. My new camera uses an SD card which my printer will not recognise. Using my pc I copied the photos to a disk but the printer still could'nt recognise them!! Any ideas??

Is it possible to copy the files from the SD card to the comp and then from the comp to an XD card?
Pictures which are on your hard drive (or on a CD or DVD inserted into your PC) can't be sent directly to your printer. You need to open them in a suitable program and then use the File>Print command (or Ctrl P) to print them.

You can print from whatever image viewing program your version of Windows comes with, but it would be better to use a decent image viewer (& editor), such as Irfanview:

Alternatively, if your camera supports 'Pictbridge' you can print directly from your camera.

Rang the shop where I bought new camera. Seem to think that the Lexmark being old will not support the new 4 gbyte SD card. Previous cards were XD 132 mgbytes and below and are smaller in size than the new SD card. Have suggested I take all equipment into shop and they will investigate for me! What makes me think a new printer will be suggested?? I like your idea Wak I will try that! Buenchito thanks for your advice but I have alwys used my photo printer to store my images on a cd and regularly print them off. It is a printer solely for photo printing.
Incidentally, what type of files are used by the XD and SD cards?
.JPG, .Bmp, .Gif, ?? Is the new camera producing files which the printer cannot handle?
Just a thought!
