I wd like to buy a new combi-boiler. Y'know all energy efficient and computerised - Is ther e a shop or depot?

The search was useless. Just people complaining about poor quality boilers or adverts from companies.

There are so many makes available, Dancer. They tend to take each other over occasionally, resulting in many parts being interchangeable. You won't go wrong with the established "names". Most Heating Engineers will have their favourites, ones they are most familiar with.

You must get recommended names of tradespeople who won't fob you off. There are plenty of them.

" Call your local Energy Saving Trust advice centre on 0800 512 012 for details of installers in your area.

For a list of registered installers go to the competent person website, SNIPEF, or centralheating.co.uk.

For gas and LPG boilers, the installer must be Gas Safe registered. For oil boilers we would recommend that you use an OFTEC registered installer. You can find registered installers at these web sites:

It’s worth getting three quotations from installers. You may also want to check that installers:

have a local office
have been in business locally for several years
have customer references that you can check.

My list still stands as far as I am concerned.

Dance ... Many differing installations. You need a survey to see what has to be done. In most cases a boiler swap is pretty easy .. but an upgrade to a sealed (pressurised) system is advisable (if not already sealed) That will/can involve more expense .. but it is generally worth doing. Doing this would add a pressure vessel and a few valves .. a relief valve and you would lose any small header tank (gravity heating only)
