Hayfever cures
7 Answers
Help someone! I've looked for a lot of cures for hayfever but the main part they all seem to be 10mg of Cetrizine Hydrochloride with different names but that just doesn't do it for me. I'm beginning to use Lemsip Max Strength for relief but I'd appreciate it if anyone else knows of something else more effective.

Decongestants can have "rebound effect" if used too often or in too great a strength, whereby they actually inflame and swell you nasal passages making you feel more blocked up than ever. Best advice is to go to your doctor and ask to be referred to an allergies clinic. If you carry insurance, private may be faster. Also if lemsip contains paracetamol, then you should be very careful about complying with the pack instructions as it could affect your liver.
As woofgang said, go easy on the Lemsip as it does contain paracetamol, so don't over do it. I'm one of the lucky one's who has never suffered from hayfever, but my Grandad has had it badly for about the last 60 years. Recently his doctor told him to cut out dairy products from his diet during high pollen days or summer in general - and guess what? Its near enough gone. I understand that this might not work for you as everyone's different, but you never know it might be worth a try - but speak to your doctor first before you do it and ask if he knows of any other strategies such as this that could help. Good Luck! :)
There is a preventative injection that you can get once at the start of every hay fever season and it protects you for that summer. However the doctors are reluctant to prescribe it as it is full of steroids which can badly affect your immune system. They only give it to those with exams or who can't perform their jobs because of hay fever. Your best bet is trial and error, try triludan, clarityn, zirtek, piritin, neoclarityn tablets and see which work.
