Thanks again to all those who helped me with the stray dog problem last night. It was reunited with its owner first thing this morning! They had never updated the chip details when they moved from the pub and when I said it should have a name tag as well, she said it had come off and because it never went far and was always with them, they hadnt put it back on . The poor old dog was 17! She said they had all been out looking for it all yesterday evening and had rung one of the vets in Mirfield without success and they told her to try my vets this morning. It was my vets who had scanned the chip and so they gave her my number. She rang first thing and came down and collected it. The pub had also given her my number but had written it down wrong! We also tracked down a Lorraine Humm ( thanks Chris) on face book and sent her a message. It turns out it was the lady's mother! Happy ending and they had also left me some flowers on the step when I got back this lunchtime so it was nice to be appreciated!

Brilliant result!!
I spend most of my day threatening to murder my kitties but the thought of them be out in the big world, scared and lost horrifies me.

Good job you found the dog - at 17 it wouldn't have survived long in the cold.

I have my thugs micro-chipped and I intend to check the details are correct when I take them in for their MOT in the next couple of weeks.

Yes, its a warning to remember to keep the details up to date. It wouldnt have survived a night outside here last night. We had wintry showers including some snow for a while at teatime and when I found it ,it was covered with snow on its coat.
A big round of applause to those who help you.

Oops ! Forgot I don't have hands !

Mirfield! I was born there and my SIL and BIL live there ( just up the road from the Three Nuns. Pleased about the dog BTW.

The pub the dog used to live at is the next one up the road from the Three Nuns and I live at that side of Mirfield !
Well done linedancer. Proves microchipping works but if you move you MUST notify the microchip people.
Oh that's lovely news linedancer, well done!
linedancer, a good ending. As others know, we would never have been reunited with our Rover-cat if he hadn't been microchipped - and even then the vet thought at first that it might have been a continental chip number, the sequences of changed since he was chipped ten years ago. I can't endorse the need to microchip enough - particularly for animals or owners who don't like collars.
