MOT & R0AD TAX, URGENT

Any help please.

I was just sorting out my paper work to renew my road tax for tomorrow and discovered my MOT runs out tonight.

Can I still get it taxed or will it have to have its MOT first?

I think you have to have an MOT before you can tax. The Post Office will need to see it. Not sure how it works if you renew your tax online though ...

You have to do the MOT first. To get tax the MOT has to be valid on the day the new tax starts , not the day you apply for it.

Renew your road tax today (I think you can do that) from the 1st Feb. But you must get it mot'd tomorrow.

The laws keep changing so am completey muddled. sorry.

If you pre book your MOT you can drive the car to the garage and take it back home without the tax,
You can also tax your car over the internet and use the car without the tax disc for 5 days as long as the tax is paid.

Why are people putting up wrong information
To get a tax disk te MOT MUST be valid on the day the new tax starts. If it runs out the day before that is no good. trt's MOT runs out midnight tonight it is NOT valid to get a tax disk for Febuary even if the tax disk was applied for to day or even last week. It the 1st day of the new tax that the MOT has to be valid for. trt HAS to get a new MOT before an application for a new tax disk will be accepted, this applies on line or in person at the post office.
You can drive for 5 days with out the tax disk ONLY IF A SUCCSFULL application for a new disc has been made, so until trt gets a new MOT and tax he/she can not drive after midnight January 31st !

Sometimes takes a while for the MOT pass to show up if you are doing it online, so you might be better getting it at the post office.

Do it on line, If its in force I'm sure you can get it to night.
