how do we save electricity and what are the benefits?

We "save" it by using less of it. That means that less has to be generated meaning less demand on the earths dwindling resources. I read once that there are 5 power stations in the US that have their entire output used up just to provide power to computers and monitors which are not switched off by their users at night when they go home.
