thank you all - i am still stumped if i have the answer PSYLLIUM for the clue Botaniczal term for a pitcher-shaped leaf
Tricky one - I can't come up with anything with those letters, sorry :-(
botanical term - vasculum ?
pitcher-shaped leaf = ascidium
Both of those are valid.
For Mamy

Which 2 are you referring to?
vasculum and ascidium
Which dictionary do you have that indicates vasculum has anything to do with either leaves or pitcher shapes?
OK Mamy, I concede. :-(

I hope you will agree that is a VERY obscure definition, and not one that I would call current.
But the source go give is not actually a dictionary.
Of course it is not current and your answer stands correct in it's own right, but we are being fed piecemeal, so is hard to establish where we are.
Agreed. I am done with this one.
I take it, it is the NARPO crossword you are doing, if so, the botanical term for a pitcher shaped leaf is ASCIDIUM, and a canal boat is turned around in a WINDING HOLE, so the answer is WIND...
