Question about redeeming MW3 Prestige tokens

Ive ranked up to 28 and have no intention of prestiging in this game but I have a prestige token available because of the new thing where you receive a token for prestiging in previous titles.

Can I use my token to unlock a new custom class (in other words can i redeem a MW3 Prestige token) without resetting all my stuff?

I'm assuming no, because Im only rank 28 but I just want to be extra sure in case I lose my progress

Yes. I've done this and i kept all my stuff, but still had an extra custom class. I had a token from MW2.
