Anyone had a Parking Ticket with the wrong Reg. No. on it?

This has just happened to me.......I've appealed but not told them about their error.

Anyone had a similar experience and what happened?

If the information is wrong on the ticket, then you'll get away with it. It happened to me where the reg. the warden took down (1 letter wrong), was actually for a ford, where I had a rover.

Ticket should be void!

You may be struggling in some locations as parking wardens now phoptograph the cars as they issue tickets.

A material fact (eg the registration number) can be corrected by the prosecution (in any matter - not only parking) at any time until the prosecution has closed its case in court.

As it seems you have accepted the offence by contacting the parking authorities you may now have difficulty saying you did not commit the offence.

I once saw a parking ticket that had been issued to a car with an Arabic plate (I know it should have had a replacement plate, but the occasional one sneaks in). The warden had drawn a line through the Vehicle Number space. I have no idea how he expected the ticket to be worth issuing.

Is the registration completely wrong or just slightly out. It may be that somebody has put this on your car hoping you'd pay it for them.

As you haven't mentioned it the authority may try to chance its luck, i'd suggest that you send them another letter pointing out the error.

my boyfriend got away with it, it was the last three letters that he wrote down mcg where it's really wcg. We didn't respond, didn't pay up, didn't acknowledge it and didn't get chased!!! That was nearly a year ago!
