To be honest I can not recall the last time I did loose rice in a microwave, but I have microwaved those packets of rice one can buy. (Loads of calories !) I suspect what you need to do is to put the rice in a bowl with water, cover, and then zap it with microwaves for a bit. Try reading the microwavable packets of rice in the supermarket for ideas on how long it'll probably need, and be prepared to give it a while longer if it doesn't seem fully done when you check on it.
Looked at the packet I have, last night. They seemed to suggest only 2 minutes of micowave. Sounds rather little to me. Maybe they part cook before selling or something (although I'd have thought that would be disasterous for its shelf life).
i did answer your previous ? but i guess it does not help as i made no reference to the size of the measure! i would say if you use a measuring jug and measure up to the 200ml mark with rice 3 times and then 200ml of water 4.25 times you wont be far wrong - if that quantity is too great then pro rata it down? then microwave for somewhere between 11 and 16 minutes depending upon power of your microwave. my rice boy has the double lid so that in you rice pot should work. Let me know how it comes out?
Thanks for all your suggestions. Will experiment soon and let you all know.
Good cooking.Just taken bread out of oven-do people really buy supermarket bread? No breadmaker either!
