Probably a very stupid question but I paid £650 for a GCSE and A Level through Oxford Open Learning back in September 2011. Their policy states that a refund can only be obtained within 7 days of receiving course materials. I decided against continuing and began a degree instead but, it's a long shot but I was wondering if there is any possible way I could ask for my money back?
I wouldn't think so, you are now over 4 months beyond their 7-day money back guarantee. If you did the degree through them they might have credited the fee to your account within the 7 days, but they will undoubtedly quote their purchase terms and conditions, which say you are well out of time for a refund.
Just check you have no "get out of free jail" cards under the Distance Selling Regulations (ie did their documentation comply with the regs). If it did, I think you can safely put it down to experience!
Distance selling regulations give a minimum of 7 days from, usually the day after receipt of goods, but you are way beyond that. You of course have statutory rights, goods must be of satisfactory quality & must be described accurately but this does not include changing your mind and the delay will not have helped.
Sorry, but if you do decide to try to sell the course check the usage and copyright position.
