/// Explaining their decision, they blamed 'cultural differences' in the way the toilets are used by foreign students, some of whom are used to the 'squat toilets' common in parts of Asia and Europe. ///

Strange on all my travels abroad I have never seen such signs aimed at us Brits.

/// it was you who said...'in their own country' i just wondered which country you meant and its not half term til next week here!!! ///

'Next week' starts tomorrow, they finished school yesterday (Friday) so they must be on half-term now.
oh i forgot its saturday, thought it was wednesday or something..

okay ill give ya that one... you are right and i am wrong ....

so after next week will ya tell me? :P
I was told by my doctor years ago, that squatting is a much better position to take "to effect the most efficient evacuation"

I always think about that whenever we have a fire drill at work.

And yes - there are major cultural differences that I believe need to be explained. For instance, in Osaka airport, there are toilets which I literally did not know how to use. They were a trough in the ground with a small arched covering at one end.

After staring at it for about a minute, I decided to wait until I was on the plane.

Weird.
I would have thought if you were brainy enough to get to university you could work out that our toilets are meant to be sat on!
Unless they think we are all circus performers in this country that is..
The mind boggles..No pun intended.
Actually, I'm sure I've seen one of these 'holes in the ground' at a British airport, but I can't remember which one. Might have been Heathrow - or Birmingham maybe. Does that ring a bell with anyone?
Definitely Saturday night from now on is this site, the banter is brilliant. I know its a bit late in the day, but personally I hover when using a public loo, it strengthens the thighs, not a true squat!!!lol
