was watching the news last night and they showed this 60 stone man who is now the fattest man in uk. He is totally bedridden and takes 6-8 carers to attend to him. He is always hungry and eats a tremendous amount of food. If he is bedridden, then surely someone is cooking his food. Where is the sense in giving him all this food ( which isnt even healthy food ) i.e. 8 hotdogs for breakfast ???

In a way, I do feel sorry for him as what life has he got now, except to be a continual burden on the taxpayer. Apparently he started eating like this when as a teenager, he lost his mum.

It said that now he is even too fat to be given a gastric band etc. Its such a shame that nothing can be done for him to help himself, but why cant they just stop feeding him whatever he wants ??? he doesnt need it for energy as hes not doing anything !!

Im irritated that with all these carers they are still allowing him to eat himself to death, he is bedridden, his carers should be following a diet plan given by his doctor.
He obviously can't do his own shopping or cooking so someone is supplying him and basically killing him. If their own conciences won't stop them then surely someone else needs to step in. Is he too big to be taken to hospital?
Would seem a logical approach just provide him with three healthy meals a day and water to drink then when he has lost enough he can take the band option if he wants to... personally I think he must be getting more out of this psychologically as he has basically put himself into an infant state of dependancy with the carers providing the mum role
Well there is a certain moral issue here which is if he wants to eat that much then you can't really deny him as he's an adult and capable of making his own decisions even if they are not in his own best interests.
If he could get it for himself then he can eat what he likes... you can't demand 8 hotdogs for breakfast in hospital after all.
then he should pay for the carers he needs when his body sucuumbs to his desires
Nice to see the milk of human kindness flowing freely on answerbank as usual;-)
look at it as tough love Nox!
Food is an addiction like anything else. however, if he is that large and cannot get to the shops or cook himself then somebody is feeding him and keeping him that large.
Tough love is exactly it... he carries on like this he dies young with a hard regime and restriction he might survive and have a chance of a more fulfilling life.
Anyone feeding a pet dog or cat to such an extent would be prosecuted. Surely his carers are just as guilty.

I dont know why they are allowed to feed him and keep him as he is either. Ive known cases where people have had to lose weight to be granted an operation! so why is the NHS spending this money to keep him fat ? and are always plugging ads to a healthier, better life to save the NHS money in the long run? Beats me !!
nox, he is being killed with kindness at the moment, does any adult want to be bedridden by choice? he needs help to get better not to hasten his death!
