Washing a vintage cardigan
11 Answers
I have a hand knitted vintage cardi (white)
And it needs washed!? Our washing machine can sometimes catch clothes...we need a new paddle for it..
Was going to put the cardi in a white pillow slip and secure it with a band to wash it?
Should i mabye throw in a tennis ball too ? To help "beat the water out" because i know that sometimes items still come out soaking wet when theres nothing else in the machine (its happened before - and i dont have those JML ball things you use ) xx

what is it knitted in... only old wool can't be machine washed as it felts ols silk yarn would possibly fall apart... Hand wash vert gently with stergene or lux flakes in tepid water after spot cleaning the makeup with a little eucalyptus oil or spirit based stain remover dabbing with paper towels
rinse really well do not use fabric softener and roll in a thick towel dry flat on a rack or even on a dry towel on the floor after gently pulling it back into shape
Or have it proffessionally cleaned
