Police chiefs were accused of criminalising free speech yesterday with their confiscation of a satirical football fanzine.

'Officers are now seizing the fanzines and in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service we will take appropriate action against anyone either found selling this particular fanzine or provocatively displaying the image in public.'

But a spokesman for campaign group Liberty said: 'It's one thing for the police to take action in fear of a riot being provoked at a tense football match.
'But threatening seizure and prosecution of the fanzine after the event is really a step too far. When lampooning racism becomes a criminal matter you realise just how dangerously broad our speech offences have become.'

You dig out an old news story from May 2011 to prove what? Real Madrid cry wolf all the time, they just don't like it up them.

The Grand Wizard has more principles than Dalglish.
No different to Man Utd perhaps.....

Look no-one's condoning LS's behaviour, he could have killed this one long before but generally the subject of racism in this sport is something that UEFA and the FA need to tackle if they are serious. Google an awful lot of clubs and racism, and you'll rake up something mucky...the point being "Don't start a stone-throwing battle when you are sitting in the middle of a greenhouse yourself."

I would argue that May 2011 is not that long ago....esp if someone is being that sensitive about it -lol!
My first impression was that it was funny, having thought about it I still think it is funny. It makes a valid point if some people find it offensive. I don't find it offensive at all but I am not one of the LFC fans defending a racist bigot. Long live satire and freedom of speech
