my curiosity
Was there a newspaper called The Sunday Sun many many years ago?

There still is!

Confusingly, the title is owned by NCJ Media, which is part of Trinity Mirror plc, which owns the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and the (Sunday) People. Which means that it's in direct competition with Rupert Murdoch's New Internationa l (and that he can't use the 'Sunday Sun' title).
