Can anyone tell me the name of the French film talked about (with clips) on BBC2's Top Gear programme (Sun 1st Jun) which was basically the view from the grill of a car as it raced around Paris at dawn?

They said it was called 'Rendesvouz'. I thought it was a bit of a wind up, 'cos they said the car was doing 200mph. It might have sounded like that, but I swear they never got above 40mph!

we found a big chunk of rendezvous on the internet some time ago, theres a similar, but better, thing of driving through copenhagen ( no attempt at 'meeting the beautiful girl' plot tho), trying to wake up the other half now to find out what that was called, back soon

k, we have consulted he who knows everything, download 'getaway in stockholm' ( not copenhagen although there may be a 'getaway in copenhagen') , there is apparently a getaway in paris and getaway in lapland is done on skidoos, no idea who these people are but new getaway titles pop up every now and again, the stockholm one is my favourite as it involves being stopped by the police and....well you'll see, all highly illegal and very entertaining for people like me

The film is called "Pour Un Rendez-vous", by director Claude Lelouch. He had nine or so minutes of film stock left after finishing a feature film and decided to make best use of it by driving at high speed through a Parisian dawn. As you do. It's him driving, filmed with little preparation, no authorisation and obviously is a b#@*$y stupid thing to have attempted! Traffic in Paris in 1976 was much lighter than it is now, especially at that early hour, but the other vehicles on the road had no idea what was happening. There was one blindspot for which he stationed a lookout - who failed to turn up! Luckily, he didn't drive sttraight in to a coach of schoolchildren. Lelouch describes being called in front of Paris' Chief Of Police who let him off because his kids loved the film. It's pretty irresponsible -- but it is*amazing* to watch! As a follow up to this question - Firstly ,, thanks for all your help with my question - I now have a downloaded version of Rendez-vous from http://www.gremlinnet.com/rendezvous.html and also (and better I agree) I have a copy of Getaway in Stolkholm 2 & 3 on DVD courtesy of play.com (�12) Cheers S = )

after talking about your question again we watched all the 'getaways' we could find last night, getaway in stockholm 2 is the favourite at the moment. hope you've found what you were after.
