Old Alien invasion film

Possibly this wasn't actually a film, but I seem to recall it as such - a black-and-white movie, a kid sees flying saucers landing in the distance from his bedroom window, his parents don't believe him. Later, he discovers people are going around with X marks on the back of their necks, and they have been possessed by aliens.

If I remember correctly, he wakes up and thinks it was all a dream, but in fact it wasn't. Not a great description of the plot (it wasn't a fantastic movie to my recollection) but I'd like to know the name of it if anyone has any ideas? Or perhaps I just imagined the whole thing.

isn't that the one taken from some sci-fi novel n redone in the 90's with donald sutherland? the aliens are trying to invade earth via some backwater town n using the humans as hosts?

No, I believe that to be Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but I don't think that was the film I'm thinking of.

Ah you are thinking of INVADERS FROM MARS

there are 2 a 1953 one and a 1986 remake (in which the boy from the orginal stars as a cop)

If you have been "got" by the aliens you have a plaster on the back of your neck....(this is the remake, I havent seen the orginal sorry)

But I remember the ending where he runs into his parents room, thinking it was all a dream.................But it WASNT

Certainly sounds likes Invaders from Mars. If you can recall a bit with the space ship being underground, and people being sucked into a quick sandy area by and old picket fence then thats your film.

definately "invaders from mars",one of the greatest sci fi movies ever,in my humble opinion
