Had a parcel delivered this morning at five past seven. Whilst I am pleased to have my order and I appreciate that he didn't know it was my day off but it does seem a little early to be banging on my front door! Do they have official delivery times?

I don't think so - the sorting office round here is open from 7-2, so if they're there, the men are out delivering too. Someone has to be first!
I once sold some office equipment to a Nigerian chap on ebay, the next morning he rang me up all bright eyed and bushy tailed at 5.15 in the morning.
I said 'Do you know what the f3cking time is???' and he laughed and said ' The sun is up it's time to do business!' I was for once pretty speechless, but yes 7.05 seems early to be banging on folks doors to me too.

For years our post came at 6 to 6.30 am . Now it is anytime from 8 am to midday.
Same here EDDIE but between 09.00 and 09.30 now it can be any time, but having said that I know as a member of a postal survey most mail is delivered very quickly.
Royal Mail doesn't function round here much before noon........if you're lucky.
It's a change for the usual complaints that the parcel was just left on the doorstep, or that they just put a card through saying no reply and come and collect the parcel from the sorting office.
Question: What do they call in when someone knocks on the door and runs away?

Answer: Parcel Force.
At least they bothered to knock.. I have a friend who regularly gets a 'while you were out card' plonked thought her letterbox whilst she was IN... I think she chased them down the road on one occasion... well, thats the French for you.. (her.. not the postman)
I would love to be chased down the road by a French woman
(cue the Benny Hill theme music)
If it was Parcelforce, they can deliver even before 7am.
I once left alternative instructions for a parcel I was expecting - I asked them to leave it with my next door neighbour if I wasn't in. The parcel was delivered AT MY NEIGHBOURS at 6.50am!! I was up and around at that time, but he never even knocked on my door. I did complain, but I doubt it got taken seriously.
I am waiting on a 7am to 12 noon delivery. Bet it don't come till nearer noon.
Stop moaning, if it was late then you could say something, that's what you call service Sid.
A bit harsh, TWR
