I agree with you. But I fear you are missing the point. GPs are not up to this task. They are already busy treating patients (or should be). So they will buy in the work from private companies such as Serco (or the US health service providers). Or GPs will form their own private companies. Whoever ends up running things will want to make a profit for their shareholders. So less money will go to patient care. And if you think we have a postcode lottery health service now, just wait until it fragments into thousands of little companies with different priorities and different profit plans.
It has disater written all over it.

r \\GPs will form their own private companies. Whoever ends up running things will want to make a profit for their shareholders.\\
Very very unlikely....the GP's would soon find themselves in competition ...the Private Sector......a bit different from the security of the Public Sector.
If you had just had a pay rise with less working hours and less on call commitment as given by the last Labour Government, would you be interested in Private Companies?
The GP's will fall in line with the new changes as quickly as a "rat up a drainpipe".........believe me, they know which side of their bread is buttered.

The shadow health secretary Andy Burnham said Cameron had "got this one wrong" and urged the PM to invite the BMA, Royal College of Nurses, Royal College of Midwives and Royal College of General Practitioners, all of whom oppose the bill. "People have strong and sincerely-held views about the risks to the NHS from the government's reorganisation," he said "They deserve a hearing – not to have the door of Downing Street shut in their faces."
I repeat ''is this not like Fascist tactics instead of the Democracy we think we have ? ''
