I need an age 14 jacket as he is tall. It's actually a hard size to buy for, too big for Kids sizes and too small for adults. There aren't many jackets around at that size - it took me ages to get the one that he had.
He has his swimming lessons at the High School and that's where his jacket went awol. I like the styling of Superdry, but they are not really proper outdoor jackets (he does various outdoor activities so it needs to be properly waterproof) and I'm not a big fan of Nike/Adidas etc but there may be something like that that'll fit the bill - I'll have a look through the links.
Re M&Mdirect, that's what was throwing me too as they still have loads of Helly Hansen, as does Next :/ and I was pretty sure that they weren't the "in" thing anymore.
I'd rather have something that was neither in or out if possible. He had a North Face one before the Berghaus and a Sprayway before that and didn't get any bother.
Hmmmmmm.

My teenage sons would never buy anything from sports direct or they'd get bullied. the 'in' place for teenage boys is JD sports and altough you may not like Nike or Adidas I'm afraid thats what all the teenagers wear. Helly Hansen been 'out' for a while now which is a shame as my son had one a couple of years ago and it was worth every penny. Good luck it's a minefield out there!
