Freesat

okay forgive my ignorance of technology cos i guess these are pretty daft questions...
Im thinking of getting freesat rather than freeview.... im confused with it saying HD on the boxes...does this mean if you dont have an HD tv it wont work? Also my tv doesnt have a HDMI socket so I assume if it will work i can connect it with a scart lead?
and also does it need to be plugged into a phone line? Im using an old satellite box at the minute that needs phone connection and keep having to unplug it when i want to use my phone.... thank you :)

All I did was to get an engineer to take a branch off my Dish and connect the cable into my TV.
I also have an old sky box, connected to another TV, I disconnected my phone line, when I was no longer a Sky subscriber.
Don't see why you must have your phone line connected to the box.

Freeview......Stb or Built in TV....uses aerial.,,no High def channels.
Freeview HD....same as above but delivers HD picture on a small number of channels on an HD ready tv...also uses an aerial.
FreeSAT HD...same as Freeview HD but needs a satellite dish and an HD ready Tv...
As AOG says you might be able to use an existing dish.

And these are the absolute best boxes direct from the manufacturer at bargain prices (theoretically they are 'graded' versions - but mine was absolutely brand new & perfect)
