Rowan Atkinson - a funny man!!

We took our children to see Johnny English Reborn today. Rowan (MR Bean) really lived up to his standard as funny man alive. Could anybody replace him as Mr J E??

It's a matter of opinion. I personally think that Rowen's Mr Bean character is about as funny as a dose of clap. Funny old world innit.

I do hate mr bean, a very irritating programme, some roles RA is amusing but I suppose that is more down to his scriptwriters?

My eldest daughter loves him (age 12) JE the 1st film, the spoof on James Bond, being her favourite and the scenes of him climbing up the toilet chute of St Malo when the French are crapping on him reduces her to hysterics - then the scene in the Gare de Lyon on his JE Holiday movie when he objects to the Fruits de Mer and tips the langoustine legs and broth into a Hermes handbag laying on the floor next to him.....

I really do love Rowan Atkinson but the first Johnny English film actually put me to sleep.

His original stage work, pre Bean, which was the origin of many of the sketches, was pure genius. I saw him at the Oxford Playhouse and hadn't come across him before that - by the interval, I thought I couldn't laugh much more.

TV didn't serve the play as well - sketches like the Wedding Speeches, the School Roll Call and the Nerd trying to change his swinsuit out were brilliant in that theatrical medium, on TV a little turgid.

I am with Tizzi on this. He simply irritates me in whatever he is in. His face is a complete turn off to me as well. Mr Bean, Johnny English, Black Adder, don't like any of them because of him!!
