BT pole at bottom of garden

friend has adviced i could claim ground rental for pole , also i have overhead electric power cable attached to my chimney serving my property plus next door which is council owned. can i claim for that as well , or is my friend having me on!

This for the electric cable and I imagine the BT pole would be worth the same as an electricity pole. The following link is the actual website the previous link is just the rates.

If there's a BT pole on your property it may well mean that a wayleave has been granted (by a previous owner) for it to be there. So you might be entitled to a nominal rental payment. (It's probably only around £8 per year, so don't buy that new car just yet!).
