key remote problems

is there a way of reseting your key remote for a ford mondeo r reg. (if its left too long before changing batterys it stops working) or do i have to take it to a ford garage.

I think you just need to syncronise the key code and the car. It should say something about this in the manual. I can't advise directly 'cos I've got a Golf, but it involves unlocking the car with the key, then pressing the button to kind of tell the car that this is the right key to listen to in the future. Sounds daft, but the theory is right!
