end! I would appreciate any suggestions in what I can do to help my boobs to stop itching, it is really bad on my nipples but if I try to scratch it doesnt alleviate the itch, and its quite painful at the same time, I have been to docs as had this on and off for 2 years, last night was really bad as the constant itching kept me awake. No flaky/dry skin anywhere on them. I felt like ripping them off last night to the point I had bright red scratch marks all over them.

Could you be allergic to the materials in your bra?
what did the doctor say? Two years is far too long to have something like this. Ask for a referral to a dermatologist.
Have you tried taking a sedating anti histamine at bedtime? This may help with the itching and also help you get a good nights sleep

Doc just sent me for a mammogram, have had 2 now, then gave me a prescription for thrush cream.
I had the same, it was hormonal, got much worse during perimenopause then settled in menopause
Question Author

@squalsmimmy - thank you ! Never thought to pop a antihistamine, will try tonight.
@divegirl - thanks Lisa, most welcome suggestion, will try buy some tomorrow :)
Thank you all who have replied, it may well be hormonal, will ask doc for a blood test.
calendula cream is very soothing
I would have thought that if it is thrush, the itching would be underneath the breasts. If you don`t want to take an antihistamine tablet you could try a cream. Or Eurax (the crotamiton one)
Popple get "phenergan"

Seriously. Get it!
I have the worst hayfever ever! Itchy skin eyes etc from feb till aug at least and these help me sleep at night aswell cos the itching was keeping me awake.

Obviouslt its best to find the cause but in the meantime try those (also called promethazine- take at bedtime only!!)!x
There are two areas of my body which have an irritating itch. my doctor prescribes 2 x 30 gram tubes per month of Timodene cream. Although this does not cure the problem it certainly alleviates it.
There is no rash, so I feel that a Dermatologist would not relish your visit, however i must agree with the "hormonal posters" and also tinkers idea of Phenergan at night....25mgms.
Yes indeed, hormonal. I used to wear holes in my bra with the need to constantly scratch the itch. I changed to seamless bras which helped a lot, and also a little moisturiser even though there was no sign of dryness or rash.
Now six years post menopause and completely itch free.
I'd completely forgotten until I read this post that I experienced this at the start of the menopause. Absolute torture - I used antihistamine cream, ditto the seamless bras as above. It seems to have just gone......I think some of the other more alarming symptoms of my menopause just gave me more to think about (agonising periods with flooding that would have floated the Ark) and when it all subsided, the itching had gone.
Good luck!
