Hi.. I don't know if anyone could help with a problem I've suddenly got with my Mk1 TT? I was driving normally down the road when a loud bang came from the off-side front wheel.. I pulled up and could see no obvious cause or damage but when I turn the steering wheel it goes so far and makes a clunking noise. There's obviously something wrong with it but not sure what? I'm going to have to take it to the garage but could anyone please tell me what the likely cause is and how much I'm expected to pay for repair? Many thanks if anyone can help

One possibility is a broken coil spring on the suspension.
Coil spring Matt, to check, jack the front of the car up with either torch or visual check the spring, I have just repaired one on my daughters car, does the sound increase when you turn to the right hand lock?

Many thanks for your replies. Yes it does TWR. It sounds like you have found the cause of the problem. I wil do a check like you advice. Cheers
It's not that bad a job to do Matt, you will need a set of Spring Compressors & a bit of patience.
