Charity Bags not collected
23 Answers
Where I live in Brighton,East Sussex, I regularly have a charity bag pushed through my letter box requesting donations of clothes, etc, which they can sell for charity (the latest was from The Samaritans) but they never collect them.
One charity stated that they get £50 per tonne for clothes, so it hardly seems worth while.
I shall give my unwanted things to charity shops in future or put them in a bin at the local Asda supermarket

My 3 piece suite is courtesy of freecycle. When we first married, Mr A and I had 2 'sort-of' arm chairs courtesy of my parents. An aunty and uncle of Mr A then gave us their old 3 piece suite. I say old, but to us it was brand new. It was lovely until it fell to bits by which time we had saved enought to buy another one. It lasted about 20 years.

It's sods law that I won't see a charity bag for months if I've had a good clear out then after I finally get rid of the stuff I get 3 or 4 in a row. I only ever give to the well known and legitamate ones so I can have a bag of stuff in the garage waiting for quite a while. We have a Heart Foundation furniture and electrical shop that takes good quality stuff away for you and I've also bought a couple of things from them. The Salvation Army also take furiture so it's worth checking with your local branch Starbuckone
I will, rattyratgirl. Thanks for the suggestion. I hate to see perfectly good stuff going to waste. Talking about the throwaway society, my sister-in-law was given a nearly new fridge because the previous owner was redecorating and it didn't fit in with her new decor. Honestly, sometimes I cannot believe it! People are so wasteful.
