Outlook Express
My OE has started playing up again, when I try to send a message it comes up 'server has unexpectedly severed the connection' and error, and it just won't go, when I switch off it says 'unsent messages do you want to send them now' sometimes they go but not always. It happens every couple of weeks then settles down again but it drives me potty. Can anyone help please, I am with Firefox and XP. TIA rosy

Thank you both for replying. I am with MSE and Malwarebytes, Methyl. who have both been good up to now. I looked on the link you posted wak and it said 'no reported problems'. I sent an email to myself to gmail but it is still sitting in OE I'm afraid. I am getting my mail thro' ok so I just don't know. How do I find out which OE account I have as they seem to be numbered 3,4,5 etc or doesn't it make any difference? TIA rosy
Hi Rosy, If you are using Outlook Express with Virgin Media then open OE/ Tools/ Accounts/ Properties/ Advanced and see what numbers you have against SMTP and Pop3.
The default numbers are 25 (SMTP) and 110 (Pop3) but Virgin sent out e-mails some time ago saying that they were changing over to 465 (SMTP) and 995 (Pop3).
You could try both sets to see if things improve as you can always change back if they are no better.
The Link I sent deals with different areas of the country so some can be advised of problems when others are OK. Our area is being upgraded at the moment as I had a visit from the Virgin man today and he confirmed it.
