Did you pay your parents?
Do your kids pay you?

I paid 100 per month when i was working which was 120 when i got sky in my room. Mum and dad got my toiletries and whatever food i liked in with that so basically the rest of my wages were my own to keep.

I gave my mother a quarter of my salary each month, and appreciated it was a good deal for me.

My daughter used to pay £20 a week,but she had borrowed it again by Tuesday.

I paid my mum £100 a month in 1967 - I then received a typing bonus of £86 and gave her £40 that time. Recently there I got £40 converted to what it would be today and it was £500 I really gave her. She cried so much about lack of money I had a dad 4 bros and 1 sister but they never really gave her much but I swore when I grew up she would never cry about money again and she never did.

The young albas hand in dig money, they get nice dinners and don't get shouted at for excessive electricity usage. They do some chores around the house when asked which isn't that often.

They also get a packed lunch for work and college respectively.

I pay £200 a month which is actually not much out of my wages so am very lucky; before I had a 'proper' job (part time or interim before going to uni) I paid 15% of my wages as it could vary depending on what hours I did; I offered 20% but my brother who was also paying rent at the time didn't like the sound of that and mum wanted to make it fair for all of us.

Its a parents duty to make their working kids who are still at home pay rent and expenses - it prepares them for the real world.OMG i would NOT pay for my kids mobile phones or Gym! three of my kids are left home now but the youngest is only 10 and gets pocket money and has to save up for things he wants -he gets extra pocket money for doing jobs around the house but gets pocket money deducted if he doesn't do the things he's expected to do (keep room reasonably tidy). Parenting is not about throwing money at your kids, they will never learn the value of it.

Wow! That's really cheap, Tinkerbell! I live at my mum's and work full time (although I'm moving out in a couple of weeks) and have always paid £50 per week. I pay for all of my own toiletries and food (and anything else I need), do my own washing/ironing and most of the housework. We're really just house-sharing, but I get a far better deal on the rent. :)
