Palm Tracking max setting still won't keep the cursor in control

I tried the following: Control Panel >Mouse properties >Elan tab (smart pad) >Options >Palm Tracking
I set this to Maximum, yet when my palms touch the touch pad, the cursor jumps all over the place. What else can I try - anyone have ideas?

Is there a disable pad while typing option? if so try that.

Otherwise just learn to keep your palms away from the pad when typing (I find it's my thumbs that are more likely to hit the pad) or disable it altogether and use an external mouse.

much the best solution - you can get a wireless mini mouse with a tiny dongle that you can just leave in the laptop - say goodbye to irritating trackpad

It's what I do :) (although I don't disable the touchpad as I still use it sometimes)

Thanks guys. No Chuck, there's no disable pad while typing option. Seems like i'll have to learn to keep my wrists upright while typing! I don't like using a mouse.

Well that's the opposite way round to most people, most people hate touchpads :)

I find that once I got used to the touch pad, I prefer it above using a mouse. Had latops for several years now. :-)
