2 payments debited bank

I paid for insurance online - but had to do it several times as website had probs.
When i checked mini statement it had 2 same amount payments debited on same day. I went to bank and they stupidly just gave a number to phone.
I contacted insurers and they say only 1 payment was taken
I will phone bank tomorrow but after bank visit have little faith , so are the2 payments just a quirk of double entries, 1 for amount and the other confirming amount debited?

This happened to me with tickets to a Garden show. Nightmare! I am still waiting for confirmation from the people who took the money....
