So much for paying off the deficit in 5 years
// Britain is to offer 100-year gilts, meaning current Government borrowing will not be repaid until the next century, under a radical plan to be unveiled by George Osborne in next week's budget. //

Is this plan B then?

Osbourne is apparently £10 bln inside his borrowing needs as he goes into the budget. The use of such gilts helps free up more of the deficit thereby allowing him a little more room as to (i) excise duties/VAT on fuels, (ii) UK road repair (iii) NHS and old folk support, (iv) Education spends (v) Police etc.
So there you are, Gromit, attacking him for this and then you don't hesitate in other attacks on the cuts etc. You can't have it both ways - unless you want the UK to be like Greece - which maybe the Labour Party has really wanted us to be by its recent irresponsible actions, which only replicate the form shown during other Labour regimes.

I actually voted Lib Dem, so my lot as you put it are the ones fu cking it up in Government.
Germany, who were in a similar position to us have gone for growth to get themselves out of this mess and seem to be doing better than us. A lot of the cuts do not save money. The police service has seen huge cuts in manpower, but as a result crime is rising. You can't have it both ways.
