Any suggestions on anything that can help natural inducement , my other half has 9 days left before her due date and is getting a lot of stick from the one in the tummy !

I've heard of curry / sex / fresh pineapple / etc ...

But are they just old wives tales or do they actually have some effect.

Thanks in advance.

strange but true....I cooked a curry for our dinner and the following day, went in to labour - 7 days early.   I didn't do it to try to bring on the birth, we just fancied a curry.  Didn't really believe the odl wives tales, and it's probably just coincidence, but who knows!!??  Good luck and let us know how mrs Dajstar gets on. xx.
raspberry leaf tea, spicy food ,twiddling nipples, sex , long walks ( no this isnt a lonely hearts ad ) these are what the midwife suggested to me to help bring labour along
Being taken for a drive up a bumpy road and going for an internal also bring on childbirth!
I was nearly 2 weeks overdue with my son(first child) and was booked in to the hospital to have him induced on the Monday morning. I was determined I didn't want to be induced, so come Saturday evening, we had sex and within about an hour I was well into labour and had a labour of just under 4 hours. So yes it does work, it makes it happen fast so be prepared and have fun doing it. Prostaglandin found in semen in used in artificial induction that's why it works. I have been told that walking a lot helps too, but haven't checked that one out.

Swallow (don't spit).

!!

Try a couple of glycerine suppositories or sennakot. Worked for me!

My midwife told me to have lots of hot baths, run up and down stairs, go for a car ride on a bumpy road, etc, but none of them worked. I too made a hot curry and went into labour within a few hours though. Having said that, everyone's different and what works for one may not work for another, unfortunately.

Incidentally, it's no bad thing carrying over the due date. I was exactly 2 weeks with both of mine (was due to go in to be induced the next day with my first and had already gone in to be induced the next day with my second) because it gives them a better chance when they're born as they're stronger. They also look good when they come out so late because they've had two more weeks of filling out.

Hope everything goes well for you, your partner and the baby.

I think the having sex theory only works if the woman has an orgasm, something to do with the muscles contracting I think.  Not that I'm suggesting that would be a problem for you I hope you understand :)
Hello, everyone's right in my view, sperm & twiddling nipples works , Rasbperry leaf tea not only is supposed to induce, but helps with contractions. I done the lot so not sure which one done the job, but my absolute favourite is stay on your feet, walk, walk & walk (gravity) With My first child I was laid down and strapped to a monitor from 11pm Mon till 4am Wed. The other two I walked around, bent over with contractions. Then walked. One was a lovely 3 hours in the delivery room and the other one hour! Just don't get over tired. and good luck, if they strap you to a montior, challenge them.

6 days before my son was due my husband and I made mad passionate love then we had spicy chicken wings for our dinner.  As soon as I had finished my last mouthful I went into labour and had my son a mere nine hours later.  I like to think that early labour was brought on by a combination of the two sex and food.  I was particulary pleased by this because after having Ed we were way too tired to have sex for a good few weeks and I managed to have my dinner before all that hard work.

My midwife advised a couple of brandies, I had a couple and my waters broke an hour later! week early too. Who knows you can never be sure if coincidence or not.

I know that aromatherapists are not meant to use mint essential oils on pregnant women because it can induce miscarriage.

But some essential oils are rather powerful drugs and you don't really want to experiment on your unborn child do you?

i thought they were all old wives tales aswell until... 10 days before i was due i had sex two hours later i went into labour dont know wether it was coincidense or wether it actually worked...try them you never know until u try them. Good luck for the birth.

Remember that the Old Wives who have told these tales were the mid-wives of long ago and probably knew what they were talking about.  Good luck with the birth and enjoy your new baby :)

I drank Raspberry Leaf Tea. Also me and hubby had sex on Friday night and early hours of Sunday morning I went into labour - a day early - 24 hours later and bam! there she was born on her due date.

Also a membrane sweep, see

I was 15 days overdue with my son (tried most of the ideas) and only gave in to induction due to spd. Otherwise i would waited and asked for extra monitoring. Term is anytime between 38-42 weeks so you aren't really "overdue" until over 42 weeks anyway. As you can tell not a fan of unecessary inductions! If done before your baby's time (some do it as early as only 40 weeks + 7!) you are more likely to need a caesarean and all that kerfuffle!
