Knee knackered?
18 Answers
Hey Folks, need your input. In agony here when I try to straighten my left leg. When my knee gets to about 30 degrees the kneecap seems to move up slightly and click, that is when I am in extreme pain. It has been doing that for as long as I can remenber (only without the pain) but in the last six weeks or so the pain has been eyewatering. GP referred me to a physiotherapist who is now referring me for a scan. Anyone had this? What was wrong and how was it fixed?

Sorry to hear this, Spikey, sounds like you've torn one of the tendons. you have my sympathy, may be fixed with physio, or may need an op (could be done by key-hole), but you scan will tell.
Hope you don't need my knee though, it's currently in multiple parts, having fractured/dislocated the patela 3 weeks ago, operation, 8 days in hospital, cricket-bat splint, 6-8 weeks flexi-splint, then physio. So mine's knackered too. Keep leg & chin up. :-)))

Join the Club! My knees are completely knackered too! 3 years ago I had a scan on right knee which showed 2 tears in the meniscus, but just before the date of the op for this, I was relieved to find it improved and it seemed the tears had healed themselves??? My consultant wouldn't commit himself on that one, just said to go back if I had further trouble. Then my knee cap started moving about - very unstable and letting me down, and got very swollen. Then the other knee started the same, this has been going on for a few years, sometimes some weeks worse than others. Now I seem to have pulled a muscle in the right knee, which I have looked up on net and think its the tibialis anterior, or Gastrocnemus. It is so painful and swollen, I have been using freeze gel and strapping it up and taking painkillers. I'm so fed up, I really don't want a knee replacement (or both??!!) I'm very scared of operations. Today I have had blood tests to see if I have arthritis. I really don't "Kneed" this!!!!! :)

I saw the consultant this afternoon and had the MRI scan this evening. Consultant will call me tomorrow with the results.
Sod's law my knee wasn't very painful today, maybe because I took the day off work and didn't have the two flights of stairs to endure in order to get to my office. I'd be up and down them several times a day with the warehouse and Gent's convenience being on the ground floor.
