Hi sqad I expect you remember this from last year.Just when we thought it was all over once my SIL had his gall bladder out but the pains have started again.! He went out last saturday to a stag do, drunk a lot and felt ill all day sunday. Monday he started having terrible pain again and was rushed into hospital. They have done a scan and he is now waiting for an MRI. The lastest the doctor has said is they may have left some fragments of stones in his bile duct left behind from last year. Have you any ideas on this please.? Hope you are fully fit again. Brenda x

Not sure if he did with mine as he said it had a split in it and some stones had come out (and I assume maybe bile as I was looking decidedly yellow!) but he had got them all in a bag (would have questioned more but had just woken up back in ward after a big morphine dose in recovery).
He said if there are any floating about then they can do an ERCP (?) where they can go in down your throat and pick them out - guess it depends what's where though.
Have they tested enzymes and such (amylase?), they did that to me when mine got infected as thought with the pain it could have been pancreatitis (thankfully not).
I hope they sort it for him soon and can at least get the pain under control x

Sorry to hear about that lilac.
I will assume that there was no vomiting with or without blood.
I like the diagnosis of bednobs and as jenna has said, enzyme studies should sort that out.
I will be interested in the investigations........keep us informed.
Recurrent gallstones is a "rank outsider" in my opinion.
Post cholecystectomy syndrome (PCS is also a possibility Google it)

Hi and thankyou to you all for your replies. Sqad my sil had his MRI yeasterday
and was feeling a lot better with hardly any pain. This morning no pain at all and the doctor told him that the scan was clear but the bile duct was very inflamed. He thinks there was a stone there but had been passed. Hence why the pain has gone. So he is now on the way home. Thankfully. But there is still one question that I am puzzled by. Could his heavy drinking at the weekend been anything to do with it.? Have a nice weekend everyone. Brenda
