Why does my son keep getting high temps?
2 Answers
For the last few months my 5 yr old son has been ill off and on every few weeks. Croup cough, temp sometimes up to 40, headaches etc. I have taken him to the Dr quite a few times and each time they say it's a viral infection and he just has to'sit it out'. He was off school for a week about 3 weeks ago and he is now ill again. Temp up to 39 again last night. Is there a chance that he has an infection that he just can not shift? He hasn't been given anything other than paracetamol and ibuprofen. It's killing me to see him poorly so much :(

\\\ Is there a chance that he has an infection that he just can not shift?\\
Exceedingly unlikely.
Becaise kids of around 5 years old and mix with other kids at school etc, recuurent infections, usually viral. are not uncommon.
I suppose that you could suggest to the Dr that a blood test might be advisable to revue his immune system, but i feel that it unlikely to reveal any abnormality.
I think that he might "just have to sit it out"
