I fully expect the answer to be a resounding 'no', but I have what would otherwise be a fabulous photo if it was not a little out of focus. Does anyone know of any software which might correct it?

You can correct it to a point in photoshop

GIMP is the free version.
Try sharpen on any image program you have

Several photo editing programs offer a 'sharpen' filter, which attempts to do what you require. However using it inevitably adds a level of 'grain' to the photo. (Using 'sharpen edges', rather than just 'sharpen' can sometimes make the 'grain' effect less noticeable).

Using an 'unsharp mask' works in a similar way.

I've got a 'full' version of Photoshop, which includes the relevant filters. The nearest equivalent freebie is Gimp:

Gimp includes some 'one click' ways of sharpening an image but, for the best results (as with Photoshop) you need to put a bit of effort in, like this:

I have just started using pixlr.com - could you provide any assistance please? I have found the sharpen to, but nothing happens when I move to the picture.

Open the image, then at the top of the screen go filter/sharpen. Do that a few times

I've never used Pixlr but filters are applied to specific areas of an image (or, of course, to the whole of it). i.e. you might need to find a way of selecting the area to be processed before applying the filter. (Perhaps by dragging a selection rectangle around it?).

It's sharpening the whole image. In the history box on the right, click open image then back to the last sharpen to see the difference
