I've just been reading up on the B.A.R.F diet (bones and raw food) written by a woman totally biased to this. She says to feed raw chicken wings and carcasses, even to puppies. I'm not against the B.A.R.F diet but i've always thought you should never give chicken bones to your dog because they can splinter?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.all bones are potentially lethal to dogs as they have a tendancy to swallow instead of chewing into a manageable bolus last year i left spare ribs on a plate in the livingroom and my dog decided to eat them and choked on one. it took me a while to stop panicking and luckily i got it out. chicken bones do splinter and can manifest serious complications and its not just the intestines that are in danger of perforation.
As long as the chicken bones are entirely uncooked (not even defrosted in the micro wave) then they are safe for your dog to eat.
I did lots of research into this before we started feeding our dog raw food and have learned that chicken bones as well as any other raw bones will be completely broken down in the dog's stomach as their gut is so incredibly acid.
