Mobile phone insurance with major bank
4 Answers
My partner and I are both signed up with our joint account on a special gold account within our bank which entitles us to benefits like breakdown cover, phone insurance, holiday insurance....etc.
However we are yet to register our phones with them and are a little confused, as it seems its relatively straightforward to register the phone (we have all the details to hand that we need to register) but when it comes to actually making a claim you need to provide proof of purchase otherwise they won't pay out/replace........Now the problem we have is that my partners phone was given to her by her brother (therfore no proof of purchase)
and mine was bought on ebay......so have proof but I don't know if the company accept that? (its still purchased at the end of the day)
To me.......there seems to be no point in registering the phone if you can't make a claim. Surely they should ask for proof of purchase when registering.
Is there a way round this as it was one of the main reasons we took on this account?
Obviously I will probably end up calling them but just thought I'd ask on here first.
thanks
