I have a 3rd Gen IPod Touch which I normally sync with my MacBook Pro when at home. I'm now working overseas and I brought an old Sony Vaio laptop with me, syncing the Touch with the Vaio when I got here. Unfortunately, after syncing, all the music from my playlists appears to have been greyed out and, guess what, the Vaio died on me!! I have managed to download Purchased music, so at least I have something to listen to, but can anyone explain why all my other music is grey, despite the Touch settings telling me I have thousands of songs on it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

This is a bit of a guess but I'm assuming it's because it couldn't sync properly on the Sony because the music on your ipod was not in the itunes library. Once you sync it with your Mac it should go back to normal.

All the original music files are stored on your Mac not the Vaio so the iPod cannot link to them to sync to.
